Built Into Us

A series about the makers, craftspeople, and creators of 14 West.

At 14 West we’re builders and craftspeople, and for most of us it wasn’t an accident. We sought it out. Combined, we have over 150 years of tradeshow-specific experience backing us up.

Spend enough time around our team and you’ll notice the people designing, engineering, fabricating, welding, finishing, and solving problems for clients are the same people building things after hours.

They can’t help themselves.

Some build furniture. Some create sculpture. Some restore cars. Some hunt and practice traditional outdoor skills. Some make art installations in their homes. Some spend weekends in garages, workshops, studios, or basements turning ideas into reality.

The materials change. The mindset doesn’t.

At 14 West, we work with wood, metal, graphics, lighting, technology, and environments. Every project begins with a question: What could this become?

That same question follows many of us home.

One team member designs and builds furniture, creating pieces that combine beauty, functionality, and precision craftsmanship. Another is a lifelong sculptor whose work demonstrates the patience and discipline required to transform raw materials into something meaningful. Our fabrication team includes makers who have spent decades perfecting their craft, learning through experience what works, what doesn’t, and how to solve problems when the answer isn’t obvious.

Others find their creative outlet through automobiles, collecting, hunting, art, engineering projects, or hands-on experimentation. The hobbies may look different from the outside, but they share the same foundation: curiosity, patience, problem-solving, and pride in creating something beautiful and well-crafted.

Those qualities matter in our work.

When clients visit 14 West, they see exhibits, branded environments, displays, and experiences. What they may not see is the culture behind them. A culture filled with people who genuinely enjoy making things. People who notice details. People who appreciate materials. People who understand that craftsmanship isn’t a department—it’s a mindset.

That’s part of our heritage.

Long before 14 West became what it is today, this organization was built by people who knew how to work with their hands, solve practical problems, and bring ideas into the physical world. As we’ve evolved, expanded, and embraced new capabilities, that maker mentality has remained.

IT’s BUILT INTO US

In the months ahead, we’ll introduce you to some of the makers, builders, artists, craftspeople, and problem-solvers who make 14 West what it is.

Because the things we create for our clients don’t start with equipment or materials.

They start with people who love to build.
